Schedule Update:

Vespers will be sung on Saturday evening, August 30 at 5:00 PM.

On Sunday morning, August 31, the choir will practice at 9:00 AM. Third Hour Prayers will begin around 9:45 AM, followed by Typika at 10:00 AM.

Our prayers will include intercessions for those who are travelling in an effort to find refuge from the coming storm, and for the health and safety of all.
O God, our help and assistance, Who art just and merciful, and Who heareth the supplications of Thy people; look down upon us and protect us in the coming days. Grant, we beseech Thee, Thy divine helping grace, and endow us with patience and strength to endure our tribulations with complete submission to Thy Will. Thou knowest our misery and suffering and to Thee, our only hope and refuge, we flee for relief and comfort; trusting to Thine infinite love and compassion, that in due time, when Thou knowest best, Thou wilt deliver us from this trouble, and turn our distress into comfort, when we shall rejoice in Thy mercy, and exalt and praise Thy Holy Name, O Father, Son, and Holy Spirit: now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

IOCC begins distributions in Tbilisi & North Ossetia

BALTIMORE, MD [IOCC] -- International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) distributed emergency food and hygiene supplies to people who were displaced due to the conflict between Georgian, Russian, and South Ossetian forces. The distribution took place on Thursday in Tbilisi where displaced families took shelter in a school for the blind and in the nearby town of Tskvarichamia. IOCC is also coordinating assistance to refugees in North Ossetia (Russia) in partnership with the Russian Orthodox Church.

"Most people had to flee the fighting in South Ossetia and brought nothing more than the clothes on their backs," said IOCC Georgia Program Manager Darejan Dzotsenidze. The Georgian government and the U.N. are currently registering some 23,000 people who fled the conflict and poured into Tbilisi. Those numbers are expected to increase.

Just in from Russia...

This four-panel Icon depicting (clock-wise from the upper left) our Patron St. Matthew the Apostle and Evangelist, the face of Christ Not-Made-By-Hands, the Mother of God of Kazan, and St. Nicholas the Wonderworker has arrived in Baton Rouge.

Beginning Sunday, it will be displayed in the Church for veneration by the faithful.

The work was commissioned by Dr. Mikhail Milchenko, a former communicant of our mission now residing in St. Louis, Missouri. The iconographer is Vladimir Kobzar', a friend of Dr. Milchenko's.

We are deeply grateful to all who contributed to this effort.

Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory to Him forever!
